Building on a Generational Legacy in Metal Recycling
Two family-founded leaders in metal recycling are joining forces with a shared purpose. To advance sustainable, value-added recycling of precious and strategic metals.
In November 2025, Jacob Metal Group announced the acquisition of Auris Noble, a technology-driven recycler headquartered in Akron, Ohio. The transaction brings together decades of global recycling expertise with cutting-edge hydrometallurgical innovation, while preserving the independence, culture, and leadership that define both organizations.
A Shared Foundation of Heritage and Family Values
Founded in 1953 by Siegfried Jacob, Jacob Metal Group remains proudly family-owned and is now led by second-generation CEO Dr. Hans-Eckhard Jacob. What began as a one-man scrap business has grown into a global recycling organization employing more than 1,000 people across eight locations in five countries.
Despite its scale, JMG has maintained a clear commitment to family values, long-term thinking, and continuous improvement in the recovery of finite critical resources.
“I am proud that, despite our size, we have always remained a family business, preserving the identity and independence of each individual member company,” said Dr. Jacob.
That same entrepreneurial spirit defines Auris Noble.
Founded in 2011 by Lou Britton, Auris Noble emerged from a passion for recycling materials that were historically difficult or impossible to process. Alongside partners Patrick Deeringer, Joe Patrick III, and Joe Patrick IV, the company evolved from a small, home-based gold refining operation into a vertically integrated recycling solutions provider serving global customers.
Today, Auris Noble is recognized for its advanced hydrometallurgical capabilities and its leadership in recycling aerospace superalloys and precious metals such as iridium and ruthenium, supported by a state-of-the-art chemical hall.
Cultural Alignment and Strategic Expansion
While Jacob Metal Group has served North American customers for many years, Auris Noble represents JMG’s first operational presence in the United States. This expansion strengthens service offerings for customers on both sides of the Atlantic and creates meaningful operational and logistical synergies.
Henning Reuter, Managing Director of JMG, highlighted the importance of alignment beyond strategy.
“From our very first meeting, it was clear that both organizations share a deep commitment to value-added recycling. The overlap in culture, longstanding values, and continuous innovation made this partnership a natural fit.”
For Auris Noble, the partnership accelerates its growth trajectory while preserving what makes the company distinctive.
“With JMG’s family culture, global reach, and deep recycling expertise, they are the perfect match to help us expand sustainable iridium and ruthenium recycling programs and deliver even greater value to our customers and employees,” said founder Lou Britton.
Importantly, Auris Noble’s sellers will retain minority ownership positions and continue leading day-to-day operations, ensuring continuity for employees, partners, and customers.
Trusted Advisors and Transaction Support
Auris Noble was advised exclusively by Triscend Partners, a boutique investment bank specializing in closely held specialty materials and advanced industrial companies.
Joe Patrick III, Partner at Triscend Partners, emphasized the importance of fit.
“It was critical to work with advisors who truly understood our business and could tell our story accurately. That understanding was key to finding the right long-term partner.”
Legal counsel for the transaction included Smith Anderson for Auris Noble, with Irwin Mitchell LLP and Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP supporting Jacob Metal Group.
Looking Ahead
Together, Jacob Metal Group and Auris Noble are positioned to push the boundaries of sustainable metal recycling. Combining global scale with entrepreneurial innovation, the partnership reinforces a shared mission to responsibly recover critical materials, support advanced manufacturing, and invest in long-term solutions for a resource-constrained world.
This is not just an acquisition. It is the continuation of two family-founded legacies, aligned around innovation, sustainability, and the belief that recycling is both a responsibility and an opportunity.
